Box Office: Sivakrathikeyan's 'Maaveeran' and Telugu Romantic-Drama 'Baby' Score Excellent Opening Weekend

Chennai, July 17 - The incredible rise of Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan continues as his latest Tamil political superhero film Maaveeran is set to emerge as a huge blockbuster for the actor. Directed by Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin, Maaveeran concludes its opening weekend with around 43 crores gross worldwide.
Made with a budget of around 35 crores, Maaveeran took a fantastic opening of over 9.50 crores gross, before registering a good jump on Saturday and Sunday to bring in 11 crores and over 12 crores gross, respectively to score the domestic opening weekend of 32.60 crores.
The movie had a fantastic weekend in Tamil Nadu with a gross collection of over 25 crores while it also did well in Karnataka, AP/TG, and the rest of India. It was released as Mahaveerudu in the Telugu language and scored approx. 2.50 crores gross. The movie is holding well today and is set to emerge as one of the highest-grossing films of Sivakrathikeyan.

Tamil Nadu - 25.10 Cr
Karnataka - 3.05 Cr
AP/TG - 2.70 Cr
Kerala - 0.65 Cr
Rest of India - 1.10 Cr
Overseas - 10.00 Cr (estimated)
Worldwide - 42.60 Cr
Meanwhile, a low-budget Telugu movie, Baby starring Anand Deverakonda, and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, among others, has stunned the trade with its exceptional opening weekend box office numbers. Over the 3-day weekend, "Baby" grossed close to 21 crores at the worldwide box office and completes the break-even target.
The Sai Rajesh Neelam's directorial grossed over 16 crores in the two Telugu states, including a huge 7 crores on Sunday. The movie witnessed an upward trend over the weekend which is not a common trend for a Telugu title. It also did well overseas and collected approx. 3.30 crores.
Baby has already turned into a profitable venture for all the investors, including overseas distributors in the opening weekend itself, and is set to emerge as a massive blockbuster in the long run.
