Box Office: 'Koi Mil Gaya' (Re-Release) First Week Collection

Mumbai, August 12 - On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and superstar Hrithik Roshan re-released their superhit science fiction movie "Koi Mil Gaya" (2003) on August 4 in association with PVR Cinemas.

The movie had limited re-release across PVR properties in around 30 cities as it was more like celebrating this cult classic rather than aiming for big bucks with a proper second-frame release. In the opening weekend, "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 19 lakh gross in around 225 shows.



After the opening weekend, the movie was left with a limited chance to score during weekdays as it grossed approx. 10 lakh from Monday to Thursday (August 7 - August 10). The opening week collection of the movie was approx. 29-30 lakh which can be termed decent with the kind of re-release size the movie had.

In its original run in 2003, "Koi Mil Gaya" had grossed approx. 80 crores at the worldwide box office, including approx. 10 crores overseas collection. The success of the movie inspired the makers to turn it into a superhero franchise. In 2006, "Krrish" (Krrish 2) was released and became a big hit, before "Krrish 3" took the franchise forward in 2013 and scored a huge approx. 375 crores worldwide.

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, "Koi Mil Gaya" is produced by Rakesh Roshan's FilmKraft Production. It features Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, and Rekha in prominent roles alongside Johnny Lever, Rajat Bedi, Prem Chopra, and child artists Hansika Motwani, and Anuj Pandit Sharma as well as an alien named Jadoo in pivotal roles.
