Box Office: Godzilla x Kong Scores Mighty $190+ Million Worldwide Opening Weekend; Huge In India

Mumbai, March 31 - Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire shattered projections left, right, and centre to score the biggest opening weekend of 2024 at the worldwide box office, beating Warner Bros.' Dune: Part 2.
The sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) scored mighty an estimated $194 million (1620 crores) on global opening weekend, the second biggest ever for MonsterVerse just behind 2014's Godzilla ($196M). It easily beats Dune 2 which scored ($182.5M) earlier this month to score the biggest opening weekend of 2024.
Godzilla x Kong roared to $80 million (670 crores) opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office, the second biggest in 2024 behind Dune 2's $82.5 million. Overseas, the movie minted a huge $114 million (950 crores) which is the biggest in MonsterVerse, beating Godzilla's $103 million.
Outside the domestic market, the blockbuster sequel grossed a strong $44 million in China which is the biggest international contributor to the film, followed by Mexico ($12.8M), and India was the third best with a huge $5.5 million (46 crores). In India, it has the biggest opening weekend of 2024 for a Hollywood movie.
