Box Office: Denis Villeneuve's Epic Sci-Fi 'Dune' Hits Big At International Box Office

Los Angeles, September 26 - Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures' epic science fiction film, "Dune" is making dollars at the international box office in a big way. The Denis Villeneuve-directed gets a solid boost from the international audience ahead of its domestic debut on October 22.

"Dune" continued its spicy run in international markets and was the biggest overseas grosser of the weekend for a Hollywood pic with $26.3 million, taking its total overseas collection to a solid $77 million in just 11 days. The movie witnessed just a 32% drop from its opening weekend.



It is to be noted that Warner Bros. had a low expectation from "Dune". However, just like Marvel's "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings", it won't be exaggerated to say that "Dune" has not only shattered the low box office predictions but also reaffirmed that the box office business is here to stay for a long long time.

Among the top international markets, "Dune" is having a dream run in Russia. After making a $7.7 million debut in the opening weekend, it dropped just 37% in the second weekend for $4.9 million while in France, it decline just 33% from a $7.2 million debuts to $4.2 million in the second weekend. It is just the beginning as more overseas markets, including big China, will be added in the coming days.

The Timothee Chalamet/Jason Momoa/Zendaya/Oscar Isaac/Rebecca Ferguson starrer will open in Japan on October 15 and then in all-important North America on October 22. In India and China, it will debut with date and date with the USA. So far, "Dune" has opened in 32 international territories.
