Mumbai, August 3 - Spider-Man: Brand New Day has seemingly rewritten the North American box office record books. According to the latest industry estimates, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' latest superhero blockbuster is now expected to debut with a sensational $359+ million opening weekend, surpassing Avengers: Endgame's legendary $357.1 million opening from 2019. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film has continued to outperform expectations throughout the weekend. After a record-breaking $169.30 million opening day, the biggest single-day gross ever in North America, Spider-Man: Brand New Day maintained extraordinary momentum on Saturday before trade reports projected an outstanding $88+ million Sunday. The stronger-than-expected final day has pushed the estimated three-day total beyond Avengers: Endgame's long-standing record, a milestone many believed would remain untouched for years. The record-breaking debut further cements Spider-Man's status as one of the biggest cinematic brands in the world. Strong word-of-mouth, exceptional audience reception, premium-format demand, and repeat viewership have fueled the film's remarkable performance. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The latest instalment has also delivered one of the strongest audience scores in the franchise, helping it sustain blockbuster-level business throughout its opening weekend. Spidey Star Tom Holland Becomes First Actor To Headline Four Biggest Global Openings In History

BY SACNILK

The global success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has done more than just revive the theatrical market; it has cemented Tom Holland's legacy as one of the most bankable stars in cinema history. With the film's massive debut, Holland has achieved a feat that has eluded even the most seasoned Hollywood veterans. He is officially the first actor to feature in the four biggest worldwide box office opening weekends ever recorded. This milestone highlights a remarkable level of commercial consistency, proving that Holland is a primary driver for the modern blockbuster era. Holland's presence in the top tier of box office history is driven by his dual roles in the Avengers ensemble and his solo Spider-Man outings. According to global tracking data, the top of the list is still commanded by Avengers: Endgame, which opened to a historic $1.22 billion. Following closely is Holland's latest release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has secured the second spot with an approximate $927 million global opening. The list of Holland-led blockbusters also includes Avengers: Infinity War, which opened to $640.5 million, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which recorded a $600.8 million worldwide debut. No other actor has managed to be a central part of four different films that have crossed these massive opening thresholds. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Top 5 Biggest Global Box Office Openings EverMOVIE NAMEGLOBAL OPENING (APPROX)Avengers: Endgame$1.22 BillionSpider-Man: Brand New Day$927 MillionAvengers: Infinity War$640.5 MillionSpider-Man: No Way Home$600.8 MillionZootopia 2$559.5 Million The journey to this historic record began in 2016 when a young Tom Holland made his first appearance as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War. At the time, he was a fresh face entering a well-established franchise, but he quickly became a fan favorite. His ability to balance the vulnerability of a teenager with the responsibilities of a superhero resonated with a global audience. This connection has translated directly into ticket sales, with each subsequent appearance seeing a surge in opening day numbers. While other actors have been part of massive franchises, Holland's unique position of leading two of the biggest solo superhero films ever while also being a key player in the Avengers sagas has given him an edge that is statistically unmatched. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) To understand the scale of this achievement, one must look at the films Holland has surpassed. This record places him ahead of legendary co-stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans, whose massive openings were primarily tied to the Avengers films. Holland, however, has managed to replicate that same level of opening-weekend gravity with his standalone Spider-Man projects. The $927 million opening of Brand New Day is nearly double the initial industry projections, showing that the actor's star power is currently at its absolute peak. Even beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Holland has shown a knack for drawing crowds, as seen with the success of films like Uncharted, but it is the web-slinger that has propelled him into the record books. Here is a breakdown of the specific global opening milestones achieved by Tom Holland's biggest hits: Avengers: Endgame – $1.22 Billion (All-Time Record Holder) Spider-Man: Brand New Day – ~$927 Million (Biggest Solo Opening of 2026) Avengers: Infinity War – ~$640.5 Million (Historic Ensemble Launch) Spider-Man: No Way Home – ~$600.8 Million (Fastest Post-Pandemic Milestone) (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) This record-breaking run also speaks to Holland’s remarkable longevity in a role that is physically and emotionally demanding. As the face of the Spider-Man franchise for over a decade, he has maintained a level of enthusiasm and dedication that keeps fans coming back to the theaters. With the road ahead looking clear for more sequels and potential ensemble crossovers, this four-film record might eventually grow to five or six. For now, the 29-year-old actor stands alone as the most successful box office opener of his generation, having built a resume that is likely to stand the test of time.

Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker's Lalkaara Casting Shake-Up: Sidhant Gupta Replaces Farhan Akhtar In This Historic Sports Drama

BY SACNILK

The buzz surrounding Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker's upcoming collaboration, Lalkaara, has taken an interesting turn with a major casting update. As reported by Bollywood Hungama, Farhan Akhtar has officially exited his acting role in the film. While fans were looking forward to seeing him share the screen with Aamir, the makers have quickly moved to fill the void by bringing in Sidhant Gupta. Sidhant has recently gained a lot of acclaim for his performance in Jubilee, and his addition to the cast brings a fresh energy to this ambitious sports drama. The reason for Farhan's exit seems to be a classic case of scheduling conflicts. Farhan is currently preparing for a highly demanding project with director Neeraj Pandey, where he will be portraying the legendary music composer R.D. Burman. Playing such an iconic figure requires extensive physical and musical preparation, which would have clashed with the requirements for Lalkaara. Since Ashutosh Gowariker's film is a sports drama that demands months of rigorous cricket training and a lengthy shooting schedule, Farhan chose to prioritize the biopic. It appears to be an amicable decision, allowing him to focus entirely on bringing the life of Pancham Da to the screen. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Even though Farhan will no longer be acting in the film, he remains a key part of the project behind the scenes. He and Ritesh Sidhwani are producing the film under their Excel Entertainment banner in association with Rajkumar Hirani Films. This ensures that the production quality and creative vision remain intact. The transition has been smooth enough that the production timeline remains unaffected. Sidhant Gupta, who has previously worked in shows like Inside Edge and Freedom at Midnight, will now step into the role of one of Aamir’s friends, keeping the momentum going for the October start. Lalkaara is being described as an ambitious sports saga that takes us back to the historic 1952 India-Pakistan Test series. This was a significant chapter in cricketing history, as it was the first-ever Test series between the two nations following the Partition. The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker, who last worked together on the 2001 classic Lagaan. With a script written by Piyush Gupta, known for his work on Dangal and Chhichhore, and Neeraj Singh, the film aims to blend intense sporting rivalry with themes of national pride and friendship. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Aamir Khan is set to take on the role of the cricketing legend Lala Amarnath, who was the first captain of independent India. Amarnath is a towering figure in Indian sports history, and his leadership during the 1952 series is the stuff of legend. The film looks to capture the intensity of that era and the emotional weight of playing against a newly formed neighbor. With shooting scheduled to begin on October 1 in Mumbai, the team is now moving into the final stages of pre-production. The combination of historical significance, the Aamir-Ashutosh reunion, and a talented ensemble cast makes Lalkaara one of the most anticipated films on the horizon.

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day expected to dominate for weeks and The Odyssey displaying exceptional staying power, Hollywood has delivered one of the most memorable weekends in box office history. Mumbai, July 31 - Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga has completed an impressive 50-day theatrical run, marking a major milestone for the emotional Partition-era drama starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. Celebrating the achievement, the filmmaker thanked audiences for embracing the film, which steadily grew through positive word of mouth despite a modest opening at the box office. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While the film has enjoyed remarkable staying power, it has narrowly missed the coveted 100 crore worldwide gross milestone. Main Vaapas Aaunga has collected around 99.25 crore worldwide, falling just short of the landmark despite a rebound theatrical run. The film has earned approximately 65 crore net in India (around 77.25 crore gross) along with 22 crore from overseas markets, making it one of the better-performing Hindi sleeper successes of 2026. Released on June 12, 2026, the film overcame stiff competition from multiple high-profile releases thanks to glowing reviews, A.R. Rahman's music, and strong audience appreciation. Its consistent weekday holds transformed it from a slow starter into a genuine success story, proving that content-driven cinema can still enjoy a long theatrical life. Although the 100 crore worldwide mark now appears unlikely, Main Vaapas Aaunga has already exceeded most trade expectations. The film's 50-day theatrical run is an achievement in itself in today's fast-changing exhibition landscape, and it further strengthens Imtiaz Ali's reputation for delivering emotionally resonant stories that find their audience over time. Los Angeles, July 31 - Spider-Man: Brand New Day has taken a historic start at the North American box office, setting the stage for what could be the biggest opening weekend in cinema history. The latest Marvel blockbuster has delivered the biggest domestic preview haul ever, putting it firmly on course to challenge the long-standing record held by Avengers: Endgame. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As per the latest trade update, the film grossed over $70 million from Thursday previews across North America, the highest preview collection ever recorded in the market. The massive start surpasses the previous record of Avengers: Endgame's $60 million and reflects the extraordinary demand for the film. The sensational preview performance keeps Spider-Man: Brand New Day on track for a $350+ million opening weekend. Should the film reach the higher end of projections, it will surpass Avengers: Endgame's $357.12 million domestic opening weekend to register the biggest debut in North American box office history. Even a finish close to those estimates would make it only the second film ever to open above the $300 million mark, cementing its place among the greatest launches of all time. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The record-breaking momentum is not limited to North America. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has opened to phenomenal numbers across international markets, including India, China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. The final weekend figures will determine whether Spider-Man can achieve what no other superhero has managed in the seven years since Endgame set the benchmark.

The latest Spider-Man adventure has stormed the global box office with record-breaking debuts in several key markets, putting it firmly on course for one of the biggest worldwide opening weekends in cinema history. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) China has emerged as one of the film's biggest opening-day markets, where Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected an outstanding $35 million on Wednesday, which is the second biggest opening for a non-Chinese title in the post-pandemic era. Apart from this, the superhero film also posted an excellent $7.8 million debut in the United Kingdom, while South Korea contributed $4.8 million and Italy added $4.6 million on Wednesday opening day. These figures represent one of the strongest starts for a Hollywood title in recent years and reinforce Spider-Man's enormous global appeal. India is expected to become another major contributor to the film's worldwide total. After rewriting booking records for a Hollywood release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now tracking for a phenomenal $7 million (around 65+ crore gross) opening day on Thursday. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) These numbers will comfortably help Brand New Day register the biggest opening ever for a non-Indian film in the country and set a new benchmark for Hollywood releases at the Indian box office. With massive numbers already coming in from Asia and Europe, the Marvel-Sony blockbuster is on track to exceed $500 million in international opening weekend over its first five days. With North America also expected to deliver one of the biggest debuts over the weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now looking at an $800+ million worldwide opening. Combined with its domestic performance, the film is well-positioned to challenge some of the biggest global opening weekends ever recorded. The initial word of mouth seems to be excellent everywhere, making Brand New Day an unstoppable global box office force.
