Los Angeles, May 19, 2021: Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) next superhero film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, is set to begin filming in July this year. The squeal of MCU's first Oscar-winner in Black Panther will be one of the most emotional productions in MCU's history.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be without the original Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman, who died in August last year. Boseman's emotional connection with fans will be missed in the sequel, but Marvel is sure that the "Wakanda Forever" will take the franchise to the next level. For the good of the sequel, nearly every major star from the original film is coming back to reprise their role and everyone is dedicated to making sure Chadwick's memory lives on.
That includes Ramonda star Angela Bassett, who plays the role of Black Panther/T'Challa's mother in the film. She is excited to return to the wide world of Marvel and confident that Ryan Coogler, the writer-director of Black Panther, will make the sequel a glorious one.
"I'm excited, as you can imagine, very excited. Of course, there'll be some changes we know - we know we won't have our heart and soul right there at the center in Chadwick, but in spirit, I know that he will be with us from day one through infinity", Bassett spoke with Good Morning America (via thedirect).
Since Chadwick Boseman won't be there in the sequel, the Black Panther fans are worried about this Marvel's next gem. However, Bassett assured fans that they don't have to worry about a thing with director Ryan Coogler at the helm, who is earless, wonderful, and visionary.
"Black Panther fans don't have to worry about a thing because we have our fearless, wonderful, visionary leader Ryan Coogler there, you know, on the script and their directing. I have no doubt that it will be glorious, that it will be wonderful. He's a visionary, an auteur, he's a kind of gentle soul and he encourages you in his own particular way, his own sweet way, gentle, insistent way to give your best, so I have absolute faith in him", she added.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled to hit theaters on 8 July 2022.
