Mumbai, December 2 - Ranbir Kapoor enters the big league of the Bollywood superstars after his latest action drama Animal emerging as the second biggest Bollywood opener of all time at the worldwide box office. The film exceeded expectations and collected over 116 crores gross globally on the first day.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal was one of the most-anticipated films of the year and with the kind of advances it scored, the big opening was certain but to see it exceed expectations is truly a remarkable feat not just for the team but the entire industry in general.



Animal is unlike Bollywood movies with an adult rating and a runtime of over 3 hours. This was one of the major reasons behind the excellent advances and the opening day numbers not just in India but also at the overseas box office. With glowing word of mouth, Animal is set for a big weekend collection.

Animal scored 76 crores gross in India on the first day which is the highest-ever opening day total for an adult-rated movie. The previous best was Kabir Singh, also directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, with approx. 24 crores gross.

Biggest Worldwide Opening For A-Rated Indian Movie

The film minted a huge 116+ crore, which is the biggest opening day for an adult-rated Indian movie at the worldwide box office. Kabir Singh was the previous best with approximately 27 crores worldwide opening.



First A-Rated Indian Film With 100+ Crore Worldwide Opening

Animal is the first A-rated 100+ crores worldwide opener for an India title. It is also only the third Bollywood movie ever to score 100 crores or more on the first day globally, after Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan.

Biggest Domestic and Worldwide Opening For Ranbir Kapoor

Animal delivered the biggest opening for Ranbir Kapoor at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. The actor's previous best worldwide opener was Brashmatra with 70 crores gross and the domestic opener was Sanju with approx. 44.50 crore gross.

Second Biggest Bollywood Opener of All-Time at The Worldwide Box Office

Animal beat Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (105 crores) to emerge as the second-biggest Bollywood opener globally. SRK's Jawan (129 crores) remains the biggest opening-day grosser at the domestic as well as worldwide box office.

Biggest Overseas Opening For A-Rated Indian Movie

According to producers, Animal scored approx. 40 crores gross collection at the overseas box office, which is the biggest for an A-rated Indian movie by a massive margin. It is also the second-biggest overseas start for Bollywood after Tiger 3.

Second-Highest Opening Day Footfalls/Admissions In Hindi Ever

Animal recorded the second highest footfalls ever in Hindi on the first day with approx. 32.40 lac, behind only Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan which scored approx. 35.50 lac admissions in Hindi in India.
