Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Day 5 Box Office: Hits Rs. 31 Cr Net To Enter Varun Dhawan's Top 3 Post-Covid Worldwide Grossers

The hit father-son duo of Varun Dhawan and director David Dhawan has finally returned to the big screen with their latest romantic comedy, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. This release is particularly special as it marks their first theatrical collaboration in nine years. Although the pair worked together on Coolie No. 1 in 2020, that film skipped the traditional cinema route for a direct-to-digital release. This means the last time we saw a Dhawan & Dhawan entertainer in theaters was all the way back in 2017 with Judwaa 2, naturally setting the bar very high for this project. On its fifth day, the film collected a net of ₹3.85 Cr across India. What makes this number significant is that it represent a 10.0% growth compared to Monday’s collection of ₹3.50 Cr. So far, the total India net collection stands at ₹31.35 Cr, with the domestic gross reaching ₹37.32 Cr. The film is currently screening across 7,565 shows nationwide, bringing the total show count to 41,910 since its release. The film recorded an overall occupancy of 18.0% on Day 5, with significant momentum in the evening and night shows. In the National Capital Region (NCR), occupancy stood at 25.5%, peaking at 36.0% during the night. Mumbai also showed strong numbers with 25.5% overall occupancy, where the night shows saw a massive jump to 45.0%. Other regions like Pune and Bengaluru held well with 22.8% and 20.5% occupancy respectively, while cities like Lucknow and Hyderabad hovered around the 16-19% mark. The performance in national cinema chains has been a major highlight. On Tuesday, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai emerged as the top seller among new releases, second only to the ongoing run of Obsession. In the tracked national chains, PVR led the way with approximately ₹19.6 Lakhs from 1,214 shows. INOX followed with ₹11.5 Lakhs from 962 shows, and Cinepolis contributed roughly ₹6.2 Lakhs across 564 shows. Collectively, these chains brought in a gross of ₹37.3 Lakhs from 2,740 tracked shows, showing a healthy occupancy level for a weekday.Ticket booking platforms are also reflecting this momentum. In the last 24 hours alone, BookMyShow recorded sales of 67.46K tickets for the film. This takes the total number of tickets sold on the platform to 593.8K. On the global front, the film added another ₹1.00 Cr from overseas markets on Tuesday. This brings the total overseas gross to ₹10.50 Cr. When we combine the domestic and international performance, the worldwide gross collection for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai now stands at ₹47.82 Cr. It is now on the verge of crossing the 50-crore mark worldwide by the end of its first week, which is a solid benchmark for a romantic entertainer.
