Los Angeles, December 31 - Superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule has ended the year 2024 by topping $15 million at the North American box office, becoming the 7th Indian and 4th South Indian title of all-time to achieve the feat. ## Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2 joins the elite league of Baahubali 2, Kalki 2898 AD, Pathaan, RRR, Jawan, and Animal in the prestigious box office club. It is likely to beat Animal ($15.02 million) and Jawan ($15.23 million) at the end of its run to become the 5th biggest Indian grosser in NA. ## The action drama is the second biggest Indian grosser of 2024 after Kalki 2898 AD and by far the biggest for Allu Arjun in NA. Overall, it is also currently the second-biggest Indian title with approximately 265 crores gross, behind Kalki which minted around 275 crores gross. ## Pushpa 2, meanwhile, is marching towards becoming the second biggest Indian-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office. In 26 days so far, the film has grossed over 1650 crores globally and now needs around 135 crores more to beat Baahubali 2 (1788 crores gross) to become the second biggest grosser. ## Indian films with $15+ million at the North American box office - ## 1. Mumbai, December 31 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been targeted for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the media and entertainment sector, supporting the upcoming World Audio Visual Entertainment (WAVES) 2025 summit. ## WAVES is a revolutionary step in the Indian entertainment sector and Shah Rukh Khan rightfully praised this move by PM Modi. Kochi, December 25 - Malayalam superstar Mohanlal made his directorial debut with the fantasy entertainer Barroz which was released on December 25. The movie, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role, however, has bombed at the box office with a lifetime collection heading to finish under 25 crores gross. ## The recent few films of Mohanlal haven't performed well at the box office, however, the shock that Barroz has given seems to be bigger than all. It is believed to be the costliest Mollywood film ever with over 150 crores. ## In a viral video on X, Barroz's marketing head Dr. Sharon Thomas has reportedly claimed that Barroz has been made on a budget of over 150 crores. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas which is the regular collaborator of Mohanlal's films. ## In the video, Sharon Thomas can be heard saying that Mohanlal's vision for the movie was to give something back to Indian cinema which has given him so much over the years. Hyderabad, December 30 - Telugu superstar and Andhra Pradesh deputy Cheif Minister, Pawan Kalyan has opened up on the recent Sandhya Theatre stampede incident in which superstar Allu Arjun has been made accused by the Telangana government.## The incident occurred during the premiere of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule in Hyderabad on December 4. The actor was watching the movie with fans but due to the huge crowd outside the theatre, a stampede-like situation happened in which a woman died while her son got injured. ## Allu Arjun was arrested recent before getting released on interim bail. The incident was also discussed in the Telangana assembly where state Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directly made nasty comments on the actor. Now, Pawan Kalyan has spoken up on the matter and taken a stand for Pushpa-star. ## Speaking about the issue, PK said "Every actor wants to watch their film on the big screen with fans and know their reaction and also have the right and interest to greet their fans. Allu Arjun feels that someone died but it is not right to blame only one person. Everyone cornered him, which is not fair", he said. ## Meanwhile, Allu Arjun has appealed for permanent bail in the high court which will be heard in a day or two. Mumbai, December 29 - The first teaser of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar was released on December 28, a day after the actor's birthday and it has generated one of the highest viewership for a Bollywood film teaser. ## Directed by AR Murugadoss, the teaser mostly received a positive reception which translated into huge viewership as it scored 41.6 million views on YouTube, becoming the second most-watched Bollywood teaser in the first 24 hours after Prabhas-fronted Adipurush which generated 69 million views. ## Sikandar is also the first teaser of a Salman Khan-starrer to score 30+ million views in the first day, beating Bharat which debuted with 21.5 million views. Among the Indian films, Sikandar teaser is the 5th most watched, behind Radhe Shyam (42.65 million views).## Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Sikandar is one of the biggest and keenly awaited films of 2025. Kochi, December 29 - Malayalam cinema strikes again as A-rated action thriller Marco, touted as the most violent film in Indian cinema, has emerged as a big success and is heading towards 100 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office. ## Through the second Saturday (9th day), the film grossed approximately 63 crores, including 37.50 crores domestically and around 25+ crores at the overseas box office. With this, it has become the highest-grossing film of actor Unni Mukundan and director Haneef Adeni. ## The previous biggest solo grosser for Unni Mukundan was Malikappuram which grossed approximately 53 crores worldwide while Tamil blockbuster Garudan, which also starred Soori and M. Mumbai, December 29 - Disney's animated adventure Mufasa: The Lion King has topped 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office, becoming the third Hollywood movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Deadpool & Wolverine. ## Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa crossed the 100 crores gross mark on its second Saturday (9th day) as EOD gross is expected to be 108+ crores (including 3D charges). The movie has benefitted from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu in Hindi and Telugu languages.## The original English version of the film is the top contributor with around 39 crores gross, closely followed by Hindi with 37 crores gross while Telugu and Tamil have generated around 32 crores gross in 9 days. Los Angeles, December 28 - Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed back director Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 by a year and it will now arrive in 2027. The film is the follow-up to Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. ## The superhero sequel was originally supposed to be released on October 2, 2026, but will now shift a year and debut on October 1, 2027, in Imax, Warner Bros. announced on Friday. The production of the film is expected to start next year.## Reeves' The Batman was released in March 2022 and grossed over $772 million at the worldwide box office, including $369 million domestically. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 2022 and the biggest superhero grosser for Warner Bros. post the Covid-19 pandemic. ## Meanwhile, the Alejandro González Iñárritu's directorial an untitled movie with Tom Cruise has taken The Batman 2's original release date. Hyderabad, December 27 - Superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule has become the second highest-grossing film in Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) after beating superstar Prabhas-fronted Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion in 23 days.## The Sukumar's directorial action drama has grossed approximately 307+ crores in AP-TG in 23 days (including the 4th Friday) as the second biggest grosser, seating between two SS Rajamouli's directorial ventures - Baahubali 2 and RRR. ## Pushpa 2 took one of the biggest openings in Telugu states approximately 89 crores (including previews), before showing a little drop over the first weekend. However, once the ticket prices lowered, the film showed a better trend and remained the first choice of moviegoers since then. ## With no big film until the Sankranthi festival, Pushpa 2 is expected to continue to score and will look to finish around 350 crores gross. Mumbai, December 27 - Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has been busy with the highly-anticipated spy action thriller War 2 since last year. The movie, scheduled to be released in August 2025, is being directed by Ayan Mukerji and also stars Telugu superstar Jr. NTR (Bollywood debut) in the parallel lead role. ## The final schedule of War 2 will be shot in April next year and after wrapping it up, Hrithik will start superhero biggie Krrish 4 which will be the actor's immediate next, according to the latest report by mid-day. ## It is said that the script work on Krrish is nearly done and the makers are set to take it on floors by the summer of 2025, with schedules in Mumbai and parts of Europe.
