Superstar Mohanlal's 'Empuraan' To Be Postponed?

Kochi, March 13 - One of the biggest Malayalam films, superstar Mohanlal-fronted action drama Empuraan is announced for March 27 release in multiple languages but it might get postponed to the new date due to the internal tussle. ## The release of the film is in only 2 weeks but the makers are yet to drop the trailer or any other promotional content. Over the last few weeks, it has been reported that there has been a dispute between Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas for the distribution and business of the movie and the latest development indicates the same. ## According to Forum Keralam, Aashirvad Cinemas wants Lyca to exit the movie but the latter, despite showing a willingness to part ways, is not ready to do the same on the former's term. It is said that Lyca wants its partner studio to settle its investment of approximately 75 crores, plus an additional 10 crores. ## There have been multiple discussions regarding the matter but things are not moving toward an amicable solution. If the matter gets prolonged, Empuraan may be postponed to the new release which looks likely given the fact that there will be limited time left for the promotion of the movie across the country.## Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran who also plays a key role in the movie, is the second instalment in a planned trilogy and is a follow-up to the 2019 film Lucifer. The film stars Mohanlal as Khureshi-Ab'raam / Stephen Nedumpally, alongside an ensemble cast consisting of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Sachin Khedekar, among others in key roles.## Stay tuned...

Hyderabad, March 13 — Tamil director Atlee is next teaming up with superstar Allu Arjun after his collaboration with superstar Salman Khan didn't materialize for various reasons. It is a mega-budgeted epic film which reportedly demands a budget of over 600 crores. ## Tamil production house Sun Pictures was on board to bankroll this hugely-anticipated collaboration but it seems things are not moving as per the wish of director Atlee. It is said that the filmmaker is demanding 100 crores in remuneration for the movie and this is reportedly not working in his favour.## According to the latest rumours in Tamil media, Sun Pictures is hesitating and is likely to back out from producing this project. If the studio doesn't bankroll it, then there are reports that producer Dil Raju might take this up which is not yet confirmed.## Additionally, there were reports that Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan would join this massive Pan India project, however, Allu Arjun is reportedly not ready to be a part of a multistarrer in any form, be it an extended cameo or in a full-length role.## The report about AA not willing to headline a 2-hero film might lead director Atlee to revisit the story and if this happens, then the project will be further delayed. Shahid Kapoor's 'Udta Punjab 2' Is In Development

Mumbai, March 6 - The 2016 crime drama Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh is getting a sequel. The project is currently in the writing phase with production slated to begin next year. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, producer Ekta Kapoor has roped in Aakash Kaushik to write and direct Udta Punjab 2. Although the casting for the film will commence after the compilation of the script, Ekta is keen on bringing Shahid Kapoor back in the lead role.## The filmmaker reportedly briefly discussed the film with Shahid and the formal talks will happen soon. "The sequel will apparently feature a new storyline, with its only connection to the original being Punjab’s drug crisis", says the report.## Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab is a hard-hitting crime drama, deep-rooted to Punjab's drug crisis and its links to politics. Back in the day, the movie faced many challenges leading to its release and once it was released, it resonated with the audiences and became a box office hit with nearly 100 crores worldwide gross collection.## Udta Punjab 2 is one of the many more franchise sequels in the making in Bollywood. Films with franchise value are becoming a box office success guarantee post the COVID-19 pandemic. Unni Mukundan's 'Marco' TV Premiere Gets Halt By CBFC; A Right Decision?

Kochi, March 5 - Malayalam star Unni Mukundan's box office blockbuster Marco has reportedly been halted for the television premiere and is also likely to be stopped from OTT release due to the violent content. The movie is directed by Haneef Adeni. ## Touted as the most violent film, Marco was censored with an A rating (18+) for the big screen release by The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) but the body has denied the permission to screen the movie on television. CBFC has also reportedly asked the government to ban the movie from streaming on OTT platforms.## It is to be noted that to premiere the film on television, it has to obtain a U/A or U certificate from the board. In the case of Marco, the central board accepted the recommendation of the regional examination committee and based on that, it was found that the movie contained too much violence to be changed to a U/A or U-category film. ## If the makers want, they can re-submit for permission by cutting more scenes but they are unlikely to do so as it will make the film irrelevant. It is probably the first movie in recent times to get banned from TV premiere and the decision is not surprising given the scrutiny CBFC has been under recently.## Marco, despite its huge box office success with a 100+ crore gross collection, has faced criticism for showing too much violence, and so has the CBFC for allowing its release in theatres. Meanwhile, the producer of the film has said that he will not make films like Marco in future, though their intention was not to promote violence. Nonetheless, the right decision has been made to halt its premiere on television, a medium where all age groups watch the content.## Stay tuned...
