Chennai, July 25, 2021: Superstar Rajinikanth enjoys a huge fan following in Japan. Several fans from Japan used to come to Chennai to get a glimpse of Rajinikanth. His films such as Muthu, Padayappa, Sivaji have done very well at the Japan Box office and became successful.
Now, his 2020 cop action thriller film, Darbar is also doing well in Japan. As per reports, the AR Murugadoss directorial was playing with full occupancy till July 25. Considering the movie's blockbuster run at the box office, special shows have reportadly been till August 8.
Produced by Allirajah Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, Darbar was on the losing side in India though, but it is continuing to do good business in Japan. This fantastic opening is nothing but a standing testimony for Superstar Rajinikanth's box office pull in Japan.
Darbar marks Rajinikanth playing the role of a police officer in the film after 27 years; his last police role was featured in Pandiyan (1992). The film also stars Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Suniel Shetty, Yogi Babu, Prateik Babbar, and Nawab Shah in key roles.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his family entertainer, Annaatthe. Produced by Sun Pictures and directed by Siva, the shooting of the film is near completion. The film has an ensemble of actors including Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu, Prakash Raj, Soori, and Sathish. It will release on November 4, 2021, in theaters.
