'Top Gun Maverick' Becomes The Highest-Grossing Movie of 2022 At The North American Box Office

Los Angeles, June 15 - Tom Cruise's Top Gun Maverick has gone past the $400 million mark at the domestic (North America) box office and becomes only the second movie during the entire covid-19 pandemic to do so, after "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ($805M).
The sensational summer blockbuster reached $400 million on its 18th day and also becomes the highest-grossing movie at the North American box office in 2022. It topped Disney/Marvel's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", which has so far scored $398.7 million since its release on May 6. "The Batman" is the third higher-grosser of the year with $369 million.
The domestic box office collection of "Top Gun 2" currently stands at $401.8 million through 3rd Monday, after scoring $6.6 million on its 18th day. The Hollywood trade experts are predicting the movie to finish over $550 million domestically with a chance to reach $600 million as well.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the blockbuster sequel to Cruise's 1986 pic has reached $364 million at the worldwide box office. It will become Cruise's highest-grossing movie ever by beating "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" ($791 million) by Thursday or Friday. It is firmly on track to become the first $1 billion worldwide grosser of Cruise's career.
The film stars Tom Cruise in the title role, and Val Kilmer reprising their roles from the original movie, with the addition of the new cast including Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris in prominent roles.
