WWE has witnessed a flurry of exciting comebacks recently, and NXT fans were particularly thrilled with Shawn Spears' return. However, it turns out his return could have been even grander.

Spears revealed in his first post-AEW interview with Fightful that he actively campaigned to be part of the 2024 Royal Rumble. This aligns with fan speculation leading up to the event, where some hoped for a "Perfect 10" entrance – a nod to his former "Tye Dillinger" persona – at the coveted number 10 spot.



While Spears expressed he "shot his shot" for the Rumble return, it wasn't meant to be. The Rumble match participants were already locked in, leaving him on the outside looking in this year.

Despite missing the Rumble, Spears brings valuable experience back to NXT. His veteran presence promises to a great benefit the brand.
