Shah Rukh Khan Scripts History; Becomes The First Indian Actor To Score 2000 Crores At The Worldwide Box Office In A Single Year

Mumbai, September 23 - The 2023 has completely been owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan who is re-writing box office history for Indian cinema. The superstar has two releases so far this year and both have turned out be to mega-blockbusters and are currently the biggest Indian grosser of 2023.

In a rare box office feat, Shah Rukh Khan has become the first Indian actor ever to top 2000 crores gross collection worldwide in a single year, after his current blockbuster "Jawan" is nearing 1000 crores globally. Previously, superstar Prabhas had the biggest single-year record with SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2" which grossed approximately 1700 crores in 2017 (excluding the China collection as it was released in 2018 there).



Shah Rukh Khan commenced 2023 with Yash Raj Films' spy action thriller Pathaan which went berserk at the box office and finished its run with 1055+ crores worldwide. Directed by Siddharth Ananand, the movie grossed approximately 658 crores in India and 397 crores overseas. It is currently the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2023, both domestically and worldwide.

The record of "Pathaan" is likely to be beaten by SRK's current sensation, Jawan which is running riot and is fast heading towards 1000 crores worldwide. In its 16 days, the action thriller grossed 945+ crores worldwide, including 640 crores gross alone in India. Directed by Atlee Kumar, "Jawan" is currently the second biggest Indian movie of 2023.

The combined worldwide gross collection of "Pathaan" and "Jawan" stands at 2000+ crores, and it is heading for 2150 crores gross before SRK's next movie "Dunki" arrives on Christmas 2023.
