Los Angeles, January 20 - British actor Robert Pattinson is all set to team up with Oscar-winning director, Bong Joon Ho. The star actor, who is gearing up for the release of "The Batman" on March 4, will be leading Bong's sci-fi film for Warner Bros.
According to THR, Bong Hoon Jo will write and direct this yet-untitled film, based on 'Mickey7', a forthcoming novel by author Edward Ashton. He will also produce via his Offscreen with Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B. Peter Dodd will oversee the studio.
'Mickey7' is described as Andy Wier's The Martian meets Blake Crouch's, Dark Matter. It centers on Mickey7, a man on an expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. This expendable employee takes jobs too risky for anyone else, and when he dies, he regenerates as a clone with most of his memories intact.
When Mickey7 is presumed dead, he returns to the mission's base only to see that a new clone, Mickey8, has taken his place. The book will be published in the first quarter of this year by St. Martin, an imprint of Macmillan.
Bong Hoon Jo's last directorial, the Korean film "Parasite" had won four awards at the 92nd Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film, becoming the first non-English language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
