Mumbai, May 23 - The second season of Amazon Prime Video's hit series, created by The Viral Fever, "Panchayat" premiered on May 19 and became a trending topic on social media.
Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra from the script by Chandan Kumar, the series stars Jitendra Kumar, Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Chandan Roy, and Faisal Malik. Season 2 of "Panchayat" has hit 7.3 million views in the opening weekend on Prime Video.
"Panchayat 2" was the most-watched show/film in India during the last week of May 16th, 2022 – May 22nd, 2022, as per Ormax Media, a media consulting firm. It beat "Escaype Live" on Disney+ Hotstar, which got 5.8 million views, followed by "Modern Love" on Prime Video at number 3 with 5.6 million views.
"Panchayat" chronicles the life of an engineering graduate who joins as a Panchayat secretary in a remote village Phulera of Uttar Pradesh due to lack of better job options. Season 2 continues the story of city boy Abishek (Jitendra Kumar). Stuck between crazy characters and alien traditions, he struggles to adjust to village life.
