Mumbai, September 30 - The Indian Premier League is one of the most celebrated and watched cricket leagues in the world. The tournament has been a center of attraction for not only players but also for the media people and sponsors.
The IPL 2021, which is currently being played in the UAE, has been a big hit on television. The reduced capacity in the ground is turning into a record viewership on tv. BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah on Thursday (September 30) announced that the tournament has registered a significant viewership as compare to the last season, which was also played in the UAE.
According to Shah, IPL 2021 has already hit a massive 380 million television viewers till the match number 35. The current viewership numbers are 12 million than 2020 tournament at the same stage. Jay Shah thanked the audiences for making IPL a major hit and the most popular tournament in the world.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2021 was originally started in April in India before it was hit by the covid-19 pandemic when some of the team players were tested positive. The tournament was stopped after the 29th match and was resumed in UAE from September 19 for the second leg. The final of IPL 2021 is scheduled to take place on October 15 in Dubai.
