Mumbai, September 30 - The 25th film in the James Bond franchise, "No Time To Die" has been released in theaters outside the USA on September 30. The film, featuring Daniel Craig as a 007 agent, received great reviews from the critics after its world premiere in London on Tuesday (September 28), where the cast and crew hit the red carpet.
The $250 million budgeted film (most expensive Bond film) is going to be Daniel Craig's final outing as James Bond. The actor has played this iconic character in five Bond movies including "No Time To Die" and is regarded as one of the finest Bond characters in the history of the franchise. Craig's Bond has not only becomes the fan-favorite but also take the franchise to new highs in terms of the scale and box office potential.
If "No Time To Die" is really going to be Craig's final outing as a British fictional MI6 agent, then he will go down as the most successful Bond of the franchise at the box office. Before "No Time To Die", Craig starrer Bond movies "Casino Royale" (2006), "Quantum of Solace" (2008), "Skyfall" (2012), and "Spectre" (2015) had grossed over $3.15 billion globally, averaging $791 million per film.
Before Craig, Pierce Brosnan was the most successful Bond hero with approx $1.50 billion with four films he starred in. While Brosnan's highest grosser was "Die Another Day" (2002) with $432 million worldwide (without adjustment), Craig's best grosser was "Skyfall", which grossed over $1.1 billion. It is the only Bond film to date to gross over $1 billion at the box office.
Meanwhile, Roger Moore has starred in the most number of Bond films with 7 films followed by Sean Connery in 6 films. Sean Connery was the very first Bond character in the film titled "Dr. No" (1962). Connery's "Goldfinger" (1964), which is the third installment in the Bond franchise, was the first to cross $100 million ($125M) globally at the box office.
Overall, Bond films have grossed nearly $7 billion worldwide to date and it is the sixth-highest-grossing film series. With Daniel Craig calling his time off after "No Time To Die", the question remains who will be the next James Bond and can he reprise the success of Craig at the box office? Producer Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are, however, not in hurry to announce the next Bond until next year. There are, however, a few names making noises including Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, among others, who, one of them could potentialy be the next 007 agent.
