Barbenheimer Box Office: Barbie and Oppenheimer Score Huge $15+ Million Opening Week In India

Mumbai, July 28 - The Barbenheimer-mania has set the Indian box office on fire and emerged as the first choice for the audiences this past week. Margot Robbie-led "Barbie" and director Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", two completely opposite films brought in over $15 million combined gross collection in their opening week in India.
Nolan's atom bomb movie, "Oppenheimer" has been by far the biggest movie since its release in India with a gross collection of 87 crores ($10.5 million) in the first week. The movie had a fantastic opening weekend of 58 crores gross, before showing a very good hold during the weekdays to score approx. 29 crores gross from Monday to Thursday.
"Oppenheimer" has already become the highest-grossing film of Nolan in India after beating his superhero movie "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" in just 4 days. It will be crossing 100 crores gross during its second weekend and will become the second Hollywood movie of the month after "Mission Impossible 7" and 3rd of the year after "Fast X" to do so.
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starrer fantasy comedy film "Barbie" clocked 32.50 crores gross (~$4 million) in its first week at the Indian box office, and was the second most-watched movie during its week in India. Directed by Greta Gerwig, "Barbie" had a good opening weekend with 22 crores gross. It witnessed a drop on Monday but held extremely well since then to bring in another 10.50 crores (Mon-Thu).
The combined first-week collection of Barbenheimer (Barbie and Oppenheimer) is approx. 129 crores ($15.70 million) which is huge. If including "Mission Impossible 7's" second-week collection (~21 crores gross), the three Hollywood movies have scored a whopping 150 crores gross ($18.2 million) during the week of July 21 - July 27.
