Barbenheimer Box Office: Barbie and Oppenheimer Rock Worldwide Opening Weekend With Marvelous $500+ Million

Los Angeles, July 23 - It was one of the most celebrated weekends at the global box office which witnessed history being created, led by Hollywood. Barbenheimer, an Internet phenomenon to celebrate two Hollywood blockbusters in the form of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer", turned a box office tsunami with a combined global opening weekend of $500+ million.

Greta Gerwig's directorial fantasy comedy, "Barbie" scored the biggest opening weekend of 2023 and 4th biggest post the covid-19 pandemic at the domestic (North America) box office, grossing a gigantic $162 million over the 3-day weekend.



The Margot Robbie-led doll movie also painted the international box office pink with a marvelous $194.30 million 5-day opening overseas over 69 markets, the second biggest of 2023 beating "The Super Mario Bros Movie's" 172.9M. Adding $155 million domestic weekend gross, "Barbie" lit up a $356.30 million global start, again the second biggest of the year, and 19th biggest of all time.

The top 10 markets of "Barbie" are as follows - North America ($162M), the UK ($22.9M), Mexico ($22.3M), Brazil ($15.9M), Australia ($14.6M), Spain ($9.9M), France ($9.8M), China ($8.2M), Italy ($8.2M), and Germany $7.2M).

Christopher Nolan too was in some bombastic form this weekend as his R-Rated atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" blew up projections with a solid $82.40 million 3-day opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. It is the biggest opening for Christopher Nolan's original movie, beating "Inception's" $62.8M, and the biggest R-Rated opening post the covid-19 pandemic.



Overseas, the Cillian Murphy-starrer grossed a mighty $98 million 5-day weekend over 78 markets, helping $180.40 million global opening for the film, the biggest for Nolan, excluding the Dark Knight trilogy and the biggest R-Rated post the covid-19 pandemic.

The top 10 markets of "Oppenheimer are as follows - North America ($82.40M), the UK ($14M), India ($7.1M), France ($7M), Germany ($6.6M), Australia ($6.4M), Mexico ($4.6M), Saudi Arabia ($4M), and Spain($3.8M).

The combined global gross box office collection of "Barbenheimer" is $536.70 million, which is simply phenomenal.
