Mumbai, March 14 - Veteran actor Anupam Kher has broken his silence on the ongoing controversy between Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" and comedian Kapil Sharma's show.
Earlier, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri had alleged that Kapil Sharma didn't invite "The Kashmir Files" team to promote the film on "The Kapil Sharma Show", as it doesn't have a big star. After his comments, a section of social media users went after Kapil Sharma and demanded a boycott of his show.
Anupam Kher, who has played a prominent role in the film, however, said that Kapil is at no fault. During an interview with Times Now, the 67-year old actor said that Kapil had invited him to promote his film but he refused to go on the show as it is a very serious film that must not be promoted on a comedy show.
"Ye film bari serious hai (this film is very serious), I do not want to be a part of the show. But I have to say, Kapil does not have any malice towards us or towards the film", said Anupam Kher in interaction with Navika Kumar of Times Now.
Meanwhile, even without big promotion, "The Kashmir Files", is going bonkers at the box office. It is scripting new box office rules and has grossed over Rs. 50 crores worldwide in just 4 days. The movie is witnessing a never-seen-before trend and is poised to go long at the box office without much trouble.
Based on the true events of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the early 1990s due to the Kashmir Insurgency, TKF stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Puneet Issar, Darshan Kumar, Prakash Belawadi, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Chinmay Mandlekar in key roles. It is produced by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri in association with Abhishek Agarwal Arts, and Zee Studio.
