Amazon Prime Video Scores Post Theatrical Streaming Deals With Yash Raj Films, Dharma Productions, Excel Entertainment & Ajay Devgn

Mumbai, April 28 - Amazon Prime Video has revealed its mega plans for Indian audiences for the next couple of years. The streaming giant announced at an event in Mumbai that at least 40+ original Indian shows and movies are currently in development at the studio and will be released in the next 24 months.
Apart from original titles, Prime Video also inked exclusive post-theatrical streaming deals with big Bollywood banners. During the covid-19 pandemic, Prime Video has been a home of the most the Indian movies for the direct OTT and post-theatrical releases.
Among the top partnership, Amazon scored a huge deal with Yash Raj Films for its five mega-budgeted films that are scheduled to release in the next 12 months. This partnership will officially be kicked off with Ranveer Singh's "Jayeshbhai Jordaar", which is slated to release on May 13th and will end on the blockbuster "Tiger 3", starring superstar Salman Khan.
The five YRF movies are as follows with their theatrical release dates - Jayeshbhai Jordaar (13th May), Prithviraj (3rd June), Shamshera (20th July), Pathaan (25th Jan 2023), and Tiger 3 (21st April 2023). As reported earlier, Prime Video has paid a whopping price to acquire post-theatrical streaming rights of the aforementioned movies.
The second big post-theatrical streaming deal is with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. Prime Video will stream Excel's five movies after they complete their theatrical run. These movies are - Phone Bhoot, Yudhra, Jee Le Zara, Fukrey 3, and Kho Gaye Hain Hum Kahan.
Apart from YRF and Excel, the streamer also stikes 4 films deal with Ajay Devgn, which includes his latest "Runway 34". Apart from "Runway 34", the social comedy film "Thank God" (July 2022), the action thriller "Bhola" (Feb. 2023), and the thriller "Drishyam 2" will also be premiered on Prime Video after big-screen release.
Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has already tested success with Prime Video with direct OTT release of its two movies, "Shershaah", and "Gehraiyaan". The top Bollywood production studio has now signed a deal with a streamer for the post-theatrical release of its 3 movies.
The studio behind many blockbuster family entertainers will release its "Jug Jugg Jeeyo" (June 2022), "Govinda Naam Mera" (July 2022), and "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" (Feb. 2023) after completing their theatrical run. Their partnership also includes one direct OTT release and 4 web shows.
