Box Office Records Broken By SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'

Hyderabad, April 17 - After the monstrous success of "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" in 2017, director SS Rajamouli returned with another mega-blockbuster "RRR". The Indian film fraternity would be thankful to the makers as "RRR" was released at a time when Indian cinema needed a big hit to be back on its strong feat after getting a massive jolt because of the covid-19 pandemic.

The film, starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, has grossed over 1050 crores worldwide so far and in doing so, it broked several existed box office records domestically and overseas. The success of "RRR" becomes even more special knowing the fact that it got released at the time when the covid-19 pandemic was still out there.



Have a look at some of the major box office records broken by RRR -

FIRST FILM EVER TO SCORE 400 CRORES NET IN TELUGU

RRR is the only film to date to score 400 crores net in Telugu languages. It achieved this rare box office milestone in just 16 days. The previous record belonged to "Baahubali 2", which had scored approx. 338 crores net in Telugu version.



HIGHEST GROSSING SHARE MOVIE IN AP/TG

The period action drama movie was valued at approx. 191 crores gross share in AP/TG. The movie not only reached there but also sets a new record of collecting the highest share in the Telugu states. So far, it has scored 259.65 crores share in 23 days. The previous record also belonged to "Baahubali 2", which minted 204 crores share in AP/TG.

SECOND HIGHEST GROSSING INDIAN MOVIE AT THE DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE



RRR is next only to Baahubali 2 at the domestic box office. It has so far grossed 868.2 crores in India. BB2 had grossed 1416.9 crores in 2017.

THIRD INDIAN MOVIE TO GROSS 1000+ CRORES WORLDWIDE

After Aamir Khan's "Dangal" and Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2", RRR becomes only the 3rd Indian movie to gross over 1000 crores worldwide. It is at number 3 among the highest-grossing Indian movie worldwide with 1069.2 crores gross. Dangal is at number 1 with 2122.3 crores, followed by BB2 with 1788.06 crores at number 2.

THIRD HIGHEST-GROSSING INDIAN MOVIE AT THE OVERSEAS BOX OFFICE (WITHOUT CHINA)

Excluding the China box office, RRR is the third highest-grossing Indian movie at the overseas box office. It has grossed over 200 crores overseas and is currently at number 3 after Baahubali 2 (290.6 crores) and Dangal (230 crores). RRR might release in China later this year and if received very well, it could break several records for an Indian movie.

SECOND MOVIE TO SCORE 200+ CRORES NET IN DUBBED HINDI VERSION

RRR is only the second dubbed Hindi movie to score 200+ crores net. Baahubali 2 is the first movie to get there and went on to score 510.99 crores net in Hindi. KGF Chapter 2 will become the 3rd on the list.
