Road to Sangam Director Amit Rai Comes On Board To Helm Akshay Kumar - Pankaj Tripathi Starrer Oh My God 2?

Mumbai, June 6, 2021: Recently, it was reported that Akshay Kumar starrer, Oh My God (2012) is getting the sequel. The actor is reportadly reprising his character of God in the sequel while Pankaj Tripathi is the new addition. Tripathi will replace Paresh Rawal who was part of 2012's film. The script of the film is said to be locked and will go on floors in September this year.
It was reported that Umesh Shukla, who helmed Oh My God, is not returning to helm sequel. We now learnt that Amit Rai, who win accolades for directing Road to Sangam (2010), has been brought on board to helm this social comedy, which will be produced by Ashwin Varde and Akshay Kumar.
Rai's directorial "Road to Sangam" featured Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, and Pawan Malhotra. He won Gollapudi Srinivas Award for the film. He has also directed the 2009 Marathi film, Tingya, which was rewarded at the International Film Festival of South Africa.
"After discussing multiple ideas with multiple names, Amit was able to crack a plot that's relevant and as exciting as the first part. It took him quite some time to develop the idea into a screenplay. It's only after multiple narrations and discussions that the film got green-lit by Akshay Kumar. He is all excited to commence shooting for Oh My God 2 from the month of September", a report by Pinkvilla stated.
Meanwhile, the report also said that Akshay is currently going through at least 10 more scripts apart from his 7 confirmed films. He is said to be in talks with Sajid Nadiadwala's Housefull 5 along with two films for Karan Johar, three films for Jacky Bhagnani, and three films for Ekta Kapoor, and OMG.
