Following the WWE Elimination Chamber's slam dunk performance in Perth, Australia, the region has extended an enthusiastic invitation for the wrestling giant to return.
The event, which saw Rhea Ripley maintain her championship against Nia Jax, Drew McIntyre secure his WrestleMania 40 title shot against the World Heavyweight Champion, and Becky Lynch emerge victorious in the women's Elimination Chamber, drew a massive crowd of 52,590, according to Triple H's announcement.
This blockbuster success has spurred Western Australia to actively court WWE's return, as reported by 9News Perth. The news outlet quoted a reporter stating, "Perth has made a mark on the global stage, with the state government hailing last night's wrestling extravaganza as a resounding success. WWE has received an unconditional welcome to return, and efforts are now underway to secure another UFC bout in Perth."
Rita Saffioti, Western Australia's Tourism Minister and Deputy Premier, echoed these sentiments in her interview with 9News Perth: "Looking at all the telltale signs, this was a smashing hit. Over 52,000 people packed the stadium last night, exceeding our expectations by a significant margin."
The report further reveals that 14,000 fans specifically traveled to Perth to witness the February 24th event. Notably, while the financial details of the event's local cost remain undisclosed, reports suggest it was a worthwhile investment.
Interestingly, in May 2023, Puerto Rico reportedly paid $1.5 million to host WWE Backlash.
With the recent merger between WWE and UFC, Perth is now reportedly in talks with the latter organization. This development comes amid an increasing trend of cross-promotion between the two entities.
