Literally, no one knows what will transpire when they finally drop the huge announcement on February 8 during the open-to-the-public fan and media event – WrestleMania XL Kickoff – live from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It could be Roman Reigns vs. The Rock, heavily considered, or it could be a Triple Threat Match adding Cody Rhodes based on the backlash WWE received after announcing that Cody won't be taking a shot at Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, with The Rock being the replacement.
While speaking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that almost nobody knew that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns was in the works. The deal between The Rock and WWE/TKO was made as far back as January 3, confirming that he would be facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
"When he made the deal on January 3 to come in, that was part of the deal. Why Cody Rhodes won the Royal Rumble is a question that I cannot answer because nobody will answer it for me. But, the belief was that it was Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes, and nobody knew, but the deal had been made prior to that. It played out the way they wanted it to play out. The plan as of Friday night was Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes."
