Swara Bhaskar stands in support with former West Indies captain Daren Sammy over racial remark

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar came in support of former West Indies cricket team captain Daren Sammy over the racial remark during his Indian Premier League instinct with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sammy alleged that when he was playing with SRH in the IPL, some of his teammates used to call him 'Kaalu'. At that time, he didn't know what that word meant.

He recently got to know that word 'Kaalu' is used for the racial remarks and for that to make things clear, he said that he will send messages to his SRH teammates who used to call him Kalu, for apologizing to him. Swara Bhaskar was one of the firsts to support Sammy and wants SRH players to show some decency and spine and say sorry to him.



Swara took to Twitter and wrote, "Dear @darensammy88 if someone used the N word at a black person & said they “operated from a place of love” what would u say? Same with word ‘Kaalu’ & it’s variations. And team members of @SunRisers. Show some decency & spine #SaySorryToDaren officially!"

To which Daren Sammy responded, "Don’t get me wrong I’m not condoning what was done/said. I’m saying let’s use this opportunity to educate each other so it doesn’t happen again. One can only apologize if he/she feels wrong about something. I’m confident&proud to be black. That will never change".

One of the Instagram posts of team India pacer Ishant Sharma proves what Sammy is saying is correct. The then SRH teammate of Sammy, Ishant Sharma referred the two times T20 world cup winning captain as 'Kaalu' in his post which sparked the controversy.
