"Saroj Khan was my first genuine teacher in the film industry", writes Shah Rukh Khan

In the early hours of Friday morning on July 3, an ace dance choreographer of India, Saroj Khan took her last breath as the 71-year-old died due to cardiac arrest. She was recently admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital for breathing issues where she suffered cardiac arrest. The three times national award winner was one of the most respected and celebrated choreographers of the Hindi film industry.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan who had worked with Saroj Khan in movies like Baazigar, Pardes, Swades, Devdas, and others took to Twitter and paid his tribute to Saroj Khan and remembered how caring and loving person she was. He wrote,
"My first genuine teacher in the film industry. She taught me for hours how to do the ‘dip’ for film dancing. One of the most caring, loving & inspiring persona I have ever met. Will miss you Sarojji. May Allah bless her soul. Thank u for looking after me".
Saroj Khan has choreographed some of the most iconic dance sequences to date including 'Ek Do Teen', 'Dola Re Dola', 'Hawa Hawai', 'Dola Re Dola' and many more. Over the career of forty-year, she had choreographed more than 2000 songs. For 'Dola Re Dola', 'Yeh Ishq Haaye', and Tamil movie 'Sringaram' she won national awards for the Best Choreography.
