Hyderabad, July 21 - Star Wars meets Indian mythology as the makers unveiled the first look title glimpse of the highly anticipated Indian sci-fi epic "Project K", now titled "Kalki 2898 AD". The Nag Ashwin's directorial made it to the San Diego Cinema-Con event, becoming the first Indian movie to hit Cinema-Con Hall H.
The first look glimpse of this Prabhas-fronted epic movie offers a completely new experience altogether as far as Indian movies are concerned. Set in the future, "Kalki 2898 AD" is inspired by Indian mythology where the Kalki title is taken from one of the names of Lord Vishnu from Hinduism.
The teaser/glimpse begins with the line "When the world is taken over by darkness, a force will arise", and shows a war-torn world in the future, where people seem to be ruled by dark forces and technology and are treated violently and brutally by the oppressor before Prabhas' makes an entry as a savior of the world.
The teaser also offers the first look at Deepika Padukone who plays the female lead in the movie. She seems to be caught up in emotional turmoil as a recruit in the army. The promo also shows Amitabh Bachchan, whose character is said to be inspired by Ashwathama, as his face is covered.
The quality of the teaser is excellent and it promises to be a visual wonder. The background music is rocking and is in sync with the scenes. There have been sci-fi movies in India be it "Krish", "Ra.One" and "Robot", among others, but the concept of "Project K" of mixing mythology and science is the first of its kind. It is already being seen as a game-changing moment and if lives up to the expectations, then it could inspire the filmmakers to make more such films as they are already trying to do.
Apart from the excellent first look impression, "Kalki 2898 AD" has all the ingredients to emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters ever. It boasts a highly talented and notable star cast, including Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. The movie features two villains and one of them is Kamal Haasan.
Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, "Kalki" will release next year in multiple languages, worldwide.
