John Cena, the 16-time WWE Champion and a household name in professional wrestling, has once again reiterated his impending departure from the ring. Despite recent appearances and continued passion, Cena, currently 46, remains focused on a firm retirement timeline.
In a recent interview with Kelly Clarkson, Cena explicitly stated that 50 years old serves as his "line in the sand" for officially hanging up his wrestling boots.
"50 is my absolute, like, line in the sand," Cena declared. "I would like to try to do it before that. But at 50, I'm just gonna tweet out, tweet, 'Peace out! See you.' That's it. I'm good."
This isn't the first time Cena has alluded to retirement. In the past few months, he's consistently reminded fans that his in-ring career is nearing its end. This decision stems from a desire to explore other avenues in life.
"I was very much driven where WWE was my passion 24/7," Cena acknowledged. "And I'm very grateful, but I've grown. And there's a lot of other avenues I'm curious about in life. And certainly being a great husband and partner is one of those. I just wanna try to, to, to do what I can in those."
While fans can still expect to see Cena grace the WWE stage for a while longer, his comments solidify his intention to step away sooner rather than later.
