Captain India: Kartik Aaryan's Film With Hansal Mehta And Ronnie Screwvala Is Based On Operation Raahat!

Mumbai, August 4, 2021: Filmmakers Ronnie Screwvala in association with Harman Baweja, recently announced their new film with actor Kartik Aaryan, titled "Captain India". Directed by Hansal Mehta, Kartik will play an Air Force pilot in the film, which is inspired by true events.
"Captain India" is based on true events and inspired by one of India's successful rescue missions from a war-torn country, with Kartik as the pilot who leads the operation and displays exemplary bravery and courage. Writer and producer Harman Baweja called Captain India 'will resonate with every Indian'.
It has now been revealed that the movie is based on one of the biggest rescue operations, "Operation Raahat", that took place in 2015. Kartik will play a pilot who led "Operation Raahat". Harman Baweja, Sanchit Gupta, Priyadarshee Srivastava, and Karan Vyas have written the script of the film, produced by RSVP Movies and Baweja Studios.
Talking about "Operation Raahat", it was done by the Indian Armed Forces to evacuate Indian citizens and foreign nationals from Yemen during the 2015 military intervention by Saudi Arabia and its allies in that country during the Yemeni Crisis. It was a joint operation led by the Indian Navy and Air Force.
During "Operation Raahat", more than 4,640 Indian citizens in Yemen were evacuated along with 960 foreign nationals from 41 countries. "Operation Raahat" lasted for 11 days from April 1 to April 11. Indian Air Force began evacuation on 3 April 2015 from Sana and it ended on April 9, 2015.
"Captain India is inspiring and thrilling in equal measure and it gives me great pride and honor to be a part of such a historic chapter of our country. I have immense respect for Hansal Sir's body of work and this was the perfect opportunity to collaborate with him", Kartik had said in a statement.
The shooting of "Captain India" is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2022. Before that, Kartik will finish Satyanarayan Ki Katha, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Ala Vaikunthapuramaloo remake.
