Bombay High Court Grants Bail To Rhea Chakraborty After A Month Of Arrest

Actress Rhea Chakraborty who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in a drug case linked to the Sushant Singh Rajput death case has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Earlier, a special court had yesterday extended Rhea and her brother Showik's judicial custody till October 20.

Rhea Chakraborty was arrested on September 8 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on charges of organizing drugs for her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead in his Mumbai apartment on June 14.



The actress was accused of being "an active member of a drugs syndicate" and financing drugs bought for Sushant Singh Rajput.

In her bail petition, according to NDTV, Rhea Chakraborty alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput "took advantage of those closest to him to sustain his drug habit" and that she and her brother are sole targets of a witch-hunt.

She said he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and his family abandoned him at the peak of his depression. His mental health "deteriorated during the lockdown", she claimed, adding that the deaths of actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor also had a tremendous impact on him.

Meanwhile, Samuel Miranda & Dipesh Sawant granted bail by the Bombay High Court while Rhea's brother Showik Chakraborty and Abdul Basit's bail plea rejected.
