PM Narendra Modi Writes To MS Dhoni Acknowledging His Contribution To The Cricket And Nation

The entire nation pouring tribute to the legendary cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni who announced his retirement from the international cricket on Independence Day of India (August) and put an end to his 16-years of the glorious career.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi wrote a two-page official letter to MS Dhoni acknowledging his contribution to cricket and the nation. To begin with, the PM wrote that Dhoni's style of announcing retirement has become "a topic of discussion for the entire nation". He further added that because of his sudden retirement "130 crore Indians were disappointed" but at the same time are "eternally grateful" for all that he has done for "Indian cricket in the last decade and a half".
MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains of all-time while he is the only captain who won all three ICC trophies - ICC T20 World Cup (2007), ICC ODI World Cup (2011), ICC Champions Trophy (2013). Remembring the same, the PM wrote "you have been one of the most successful captains, instrumental in taking India to the top of the world charts". He went on to add that Dhoni's name will go down as one of the batting greats, captains, wicket-keepers the game has seen.
The PM further wrote "Your dependability in tough situations and your style of finishing matches, particularly the 2011 World Cup Final, will forever be etched in the public memory for generations". While recounting Dhoni's achievements, career statistics, match-winning roles, the PM wrote that the cricketer won't be remembered only for this but the correct way to assess his impact is as a "phenomenon".
Coming from a small town city, Ranchi MS Dhoni has made a name for himself and made India proud at every platform he appeared. He has inspired the young India in many ways and make them believe that everything can be achieved through determination and the right spirit. PM Modi wrote everything from the beginning of Dhoni's career to the end of his career.
The PM also appreciated Dhoni for his special association towards India's "armed forces" and wrote that "You were the most happy being among our army personnal. Your concern towards their walefare has always been remarkable".
"I hope Sakshi (Dhoni's wife) and Ziva (daughter) get to spend more time with you. I convey my good wishes to them as well, because without their sacrifices and support noting would have been possible. Our youth could also learn from you how to balance professional and personal priorities; I remember seeing a picture of you playing with your cute daughter even as everyone around you was celebrating a victory in a particular tournament! That was vintage MS Dhoni. Wishing you the very best for your future endeavors", the PM concluded.
