Blockbuster Malayalam Movie '2018' Sets Pan India Release Date In Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil

Mumbai, May 10 - Malayalam cinema continues to amaze nationwide audiences by bringing out-of-the-box films, and the latest in the list is 2018 which is based on the true events of the 2018 Kerala floods.

The movie, directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, is doing historic business in Kerala as well as at the worldwide box office and becomes the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all-time. Amid the exceptional response to the original Malayalam version all over the country, the movie is now gearing up for the Hindi release.



According to the latest reports, the Hindi version along with Telugu, and Tamil of "2018" will be hitting theaters on May 26. It will be released by E4 Entertainment in Hindi.

While speaking about the film, Tovino Thomas previously made an emotional appeal to the distributors and Hindi audience to support Malayalam movies in order to get a bigger release. "We are a small state in the southernmost corner of India. Our pioneers have been making very good movies. Our films, however, release in a very less number of theatres".

"I wish more distributors came to release Malayalam films. We don't want them to distribute it for free or out of love for our cinema. Let them watch the film. If they like it and if they give it a proper release, it'll be great. After releasing it on OTT or after people watch it on Telegram, we often get appreciation but it's not worth it. It doesn't do good to any of us. Hence, please understand how hard it is to bring a film to cinemas", he added.

The original version of the film was released on May 5 in just 17 days, it has grossed around 137.50 crores of collection worldwide which is the all-time highest for a Malayalam title.
