Salman Khan, Farhan, And Zoya Akhtar Announce Documentary On Screenwriter Duo Salim-Javed, Titled Angry Young Men

Mumbai, June 15, 2021: Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, two are the most respected names in Indian film history. They are noted for being the first Indian screenwriters to achieve star status, becoming the most successful Indian screenwriters of all time. The duo of Salim-Javed worked together on 24 films during 1971–1987 and created their magic on the big screens.
Now, Salman Khan, Farhan, and Zoya Akhtar joined hands to announce a documentary to bring the story behind the formidable writer duo to the screen. Titled "Angry Young Men", the documentary will be directed by Namrata Rao, known for her work as an editor on movies such as "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!", "Ishqiya", "Band Baaja Baaraat" and "Kahaani".
The documentary will capture the magic of the era that Salim-Javed created together. It will be produced as a joint venture under three banners - Salman Khan's Salman Khan Films, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, and Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti's Tiger Baby Films.
The famous duo of Salim-Javed revolutionized Indian cinema in the 1970s, with their films like Zanjeer, Sholay, Deewar, among others which spoke to the masses. Among the 24 films they worked together, 22 are Bollywood films while 2 of them are Kannada films. In 1982, the duo decided to part ways.
The title of the documentary, "Angry Young Men", refers to the angry young man hero-type the duo created in the 70s, which became a cinematic representation of the era and also gave birth to Amitabh Bachchan's stardom.
