From Nowhere, Raksha Bandhan and Shamshera Become Talk of The Town

Mumbai, June 23 - There is a popular saying that you need just one big moment to shine through and well, that seems to be happening with two of the most-awaited Bollywood movies - Raksha Bandhan and Shamshera.

The Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor starrers are among the most important upcoming Hindi films, which now seem to be potential winners at the box office. However, nearly a week before, both the movies were nowhere in the scene as there was hardly anyone talking about them. It looked like no one was interested in them.



But things changed and from nowhere to becoming talks of the town - this all happened within a week, thanks to the top promos and posters of the movies. Talking about Akshay Kumar-fronted Raksha Bandhan, the movie is carrying a lot of reputation and it must work at the box office to keep that reputation unharmed.

Directed by Anand L Rai, the makers have been releasing the posters since last week and they are attractive, especially for the audiences who love to watch movies with the family. However, it was the trailer of the film, which has raised the expectations bar high, and suddenly, it is looking like an event film. It was an underdog earlier but now seems to be holding the advantage over Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chanddha, which will be released day and date on August 11 during Independence Day week.

The Ranbir Kapoor-headed Shamshera is completely different from Akshay Kumar-starrer but it is equally carrying a lot of expectations. More than Ranbir Kapoor, the film is important for Yash Raj Films which has had three failures at the box office over the period of the last 8 months. Shamshera, slated to release on July 22, is the last film in YRF's current slot and it seems to be the biggest of them.



Just like Raksha Bandhan, Shamshera too was looking for a dated film a week before. But a leaked poster and the teaser have worked wonders for it and now, it is seriously looking like a potential box office blockbuster. There is positive and loud chatter around this movie among the industry people and audiences, which wasn't a week before.

While the overall box office fate of both the movies remains to see, one thing is sure both movies will take very good openings. And if the word of mouth is positive, then the makers have two blockbusters in their hands.
