Nick Aldis, the current SmackDown General Manager, recently underwent surgery to repair a ruptured bicep tendon. The news was first reported by wrestling insider Mike Johnson of PWInsider and later confirmed by Aldis himself on social media.

Aldis took the lighthearted approach to the situation, expressing surprise at how quickly wrestling news outlets ("dirt sheets") picked up on the story. He assured fans that the surgery was a "freak accident" and will not affect his ability to fulfill his duties on SmackDown.

While his current role keeps him out of the ring, wrestling fans widely recognize Aldis for his time as the NWA World Champion. Often referred to as "The National Treasure," Aldis is credited with revitalizing the NWA brand by traveling the world and defending the prestigious "Ten Pounds of Gold" championship.

One of Aldis' most notable rivalries during his NWA reign was with Cody Rhodes, this year's main-eventer at WrestleMania. Rhodes defeated Aldis for the NWA title in 2018, mirroring his late father's championship win. Aldis eventually regained the gold at NWA 70.
