'Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse' Hits $200+ Million In The Opening Weekend At The Worldwide Box Office
Los Angeles, June 4 - Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse scored a stellar opening weekend at the worldwide box office, beating all the expectations.
The superhero movie was number one this weekend at the domestic (North America) box office with a stunning $120.5 million, more than thrice of the first movie "Into The Spiderverse" which opened to $35+ million in 2018.
In beating expectations, "Spider-Verse 2" scored the second-biggest domestic opening weekend of the year, behind only "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" which opened at $146 million, also the third-biggest opening weekend for any "Spider-Man" film.
Internationally, the latest blockbuster minted $88 million over 44 markets for a total global cume of $208.6 million opening weekend. The first movie took the start of $56.4 million before finishing its run to an outstanding $384 million worldwide.
The top overseas markets of "Across The Spiderverse" are as follows - China ($17.3M), Mexico ($11.6M), the UK ($11.5M), Australia ($5.3M), Brazil ($3.7M), France ($3.7M), India ($3M), Italy ($2.7M), and Spain ($2.5M).
