Sony TV Issues Statement Regarding Recent Boycott Calls For Airing Controversial Episode In Crime Patrol

Mumbai, January 2 - Sony Entertainment Television (SET) has issued a statement regarding the controversy that stirred after the channel's popular show 'Crime Patrol' aired a controversial episode.
Crime Patrol recently aired an episode which was allegedly revolved around the recent horrifying case of Shraddha Walker's murder by her live-in boyfriend Aftab. The channel aired the episode with different names and religious identities which led to controversy as netizens call for a boycott of the channel.
SET now issued a statement stating that the episode which led to the controversy was based on the incident that took place in 2011. The channel, however, discontinued that episode after massive outrage and apologise for the same for hurting sentiments.
The show hit controversy after it allegedly distorted the facts and changed the religious identities of the victim and the culprit. It is reported that the show portrayed the victim, Shraddha Walkar, as a Christian girl while Aftab Poonawalla was depicted as Mihir.
