Los Angeles, June 28 - The search for new Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane finally ends as James Gunn's DC Superhero movie Superman: Legacy casts David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in the coveted roles, according to Deadline.
Gunn's "Superman: Legacy" will largely be a workplace origin story of Superman. Corenswet, who headlined Ryan Murphy's Netflix series "Hollywood", will play cub reporter Kent at the fictional newspaper The Daily Planet. Brosnahan will be his coworker and co-lead.
The casting of the lead pair of the upcoming movie was done through a long process of audition. Corenswet earned widespread acclaim for his breakout performance in Netflix's "The Politician", as well as the celebrated horror indie "Pearl" from A24.
Rachel Brosnahan, on the other hand, is a well-established actor in Hollywood. She broke out in Netflix's "House of Cards", and starred in Amazon Prime Video's long-running comedy-drama series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel". The actress recently starred opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in Lionsgate's "The Courier" and director Walter Hill's 2022 western "Dead For a Dollar".
"Superman: Legacy" will be directed by James Gunn from his own script. Peter Safran ("Aquaman", the upcoming "Aquaman 2", and The Conjuring franchise) will produce the film that is set for July 11, 2025, release.
