Drew McIntyre, primed for his upcoming World Heavyweight Championship challenge against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40, has opened up about his disappointment following a major loss in 2022.

Fans anticipated McIntyre to dethrone Roman Reigns and secure his second world title reign at Clash at the Castle. However, the Scottish Warrior fell short after a 30-minute battle, with Solo Sikoa's main roster debut interfering in the match's outcome.



Speaking to Gorilla Position, McIntyre acknowledged his genuine frustration at the time. While understanding the bigger picture for Roman Reigns' dominant reign, he expressed a desire for an alternative that elevated both characters.

"Looking back," McIntyre said, "it's a crucial moment that shaped who I am today. There might have been a way to protect Roman's story while propelling me forward, but it didn't happen that night."

He acknowledged Triple H's focus on long-term storytelling, suggesting that his win at Clash at the Castle would have altered the current narrative. However, McIntyre emphasizes the importance of processing these emotions and utilizing them for future opportunities.

"Wrestling is unpredictable," he said. "While frustration is real, it fuels compelling stories. This path, though not what I envisioned then, has led us here. We have 52 weeks a year, and your value relies on your recent performance and ongoing feuds."
