Bianca Belair, in an interview with Gorilla Position, addressed the potential return of Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, to professional wrestling.
Their WrestleMania 37 main event, the first of its kind for two African-American women, remains a landmark moment. However, Mone's WWE departure in May 2022, followed by her NJPW debut under the name Mercedes Mone and subsequent IWGP Women's Championship victory, has created a different landscape.
When asked about potential conversations regarding Mone's WWE return, Belair stated, "I haven't had this conversation with her. I don't know what she wants and what she wants to do. I just want what's best for her and what she wants to do with her career."
While acknowledging their in-ring chemistry, Belair expressed her yearning for a continuation of their historic moment: "We created some magic in the ring at WrestleMania 37... I think there was so much more magic to be made... I saw so much representation that was on the verge of happening, so much greatness that was going to happen."
She concluded, "The fact that it was all halted at that point, I would love for it to pick back up one day and take off. We didn't even touch the tip of the iceberg with what could be done."
It's important to note that Mercedes Mone is reportedly set to debut for rival promotion AEW at their upcoming "Big Business" event on March 13th. Whether their paths will ever cross again in the wrestling world remains to be seen.
