A Sequel To Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan In Development At Yash Raj Films

Mumbai, February 20 - A sequel to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's spy action thriller Pathaan is reportedly in development at Yash Raj Films. It is touted to be the 8th movie in the studio's ambitious Spy Universe.

In January 2023, SRK made his Spy Universe debut with Pathaan and also marked his comeback to the big screen after 4 years. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie went on to gross over 1000 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing Spy Universe film and one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time.



It has been reported that YRF is now focusing solely on Spy Universe and has already lined up a couple of projects. According to Pinkvilla, Aditya Chopra and his team have worked on the script of Pathaan 2 over the last year and planning to take it on floors by the end of this year.

Reportedly, Pathaan 2 will lead the events of Tiger vs Pathaan which was earlier supposed to go on floors by 2024. The sequel is being designed as the tentpole spy film of the universe that will set things up for bigger conflict in the times to come.

Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra are said to be planning to take the movie on floors by December 2024. Before starting Pathaan 2, YRF has Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-led War 2, which goes on floors in a few days, and Alia Bhatt-led female Spy Universe film in the pipeline. War 2 will be the next Spy Universe release during Independence Day 2025 weekend.
