Hyderabad, September 20 - Megastar Chiranjeevi is getting ready for the worldwide release of his political action drama film Godfather, which also stars Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and Nayanthara in key roles. The makers have been slow regarding the promotion of the movie so far, but now looking to speed up and non-stop promotion till the release day which is on October 5.
According to reports, the producers will release the film on their own as distributors reportedly refused to release it at the price quoted by the makers. Chiranjeevi's last film Acharya caused huge losses for the investors and now, they don't want to take risks by grabbing the movie at a high price.
Meanwhile, the makers have been able to fetch a huge deal for the film's post-theatrical streaming rights. According to Aakashavaani's social media post, Netflix has grabbed the streaming rights of "Godfather" for Rs. 57 crores for both the Telugu and Hindi versions. This is big sum knowing the fact that Chiranjeevi's "Acharya" didn't score much, both at the box office and on digital platforms.
"Godfather" is directed by Mohan Raja and produced by Ram Charan, R. B. Choudary, and N. V. Prasad under Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films. It is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam film "Lucifer", in which, after the death of a political leader, a mysterious man steps in to ascend the throne.
The first look posters and teaser of the movie were recently unveiled which got a very good response from the audience. The movie promises to be a mass entertainer, something Chiranjeevi is known for. Salman plays an extended cameo in it which marks his Telugu debut. It also stars Puri Jagannadh, Satyadev Kancharana, and Samuthirakani in key roles.
