Will 'Cobra' Prove To Be A Game-Changer For Chiyaan Vikram Like 'Vikram' Proved For Kamal Haasan?

Chennai, July 12 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram returns to the big screen with the action thriller film Cobra, which is scheduled to release on August 11, 2022. It will be Vikram's first theatrical release since "Kadaram Kondan", which was released in July 2019.

Directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu, "Cobra" is being seen as a potential winner at the box office, and rightly so, the makers are keeping high hopes for it. Actor, and filmmaker Udhaynidhi Stalin, who will distribute the movie in Tamil Nadu under his banner Red Giant Movies, has called it a game-changing film for Vikram's career.



At the grand audio launch of Cobra which took place yesterday (July 11), Udhaynidhi Stalin said that Cobra will be as big a box office success as Kamal Haasan's recently released "Vikram". Directed by Lokesh Kangaraj, "Vikram" proved to be the biggest hit in Kamal Haasan's career as it grossed over 400 crores at the worldwide box office.

"Cobra" is definitely a big movie and is creating genuine hype and buzz for its theatrical release. However, it is too early to compare it with "Vikram", which was a Pan India movie and was promoted well within domestic as well as international markets. It was also boosted with a solid and talented star cast, also featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil along with a rocking cameo of Suriya.

On the other hand, "Cobra" doesn't have a big name apart from Chiyaan Vikram. Srinidhi Shetty, who is playing the leading lady, though is fresh from mega-blockbuster "KGF: Chapter 2", is still a new face for the Tamil audience. It also stars Irfan Pathan, Miya George, and Roshan Mathew, among others in key roles.

While asking to repeat "Vikram's: box office success is looking too much for "Cobra", it has the potential to create magic and has a chance to become the biggest grosser in Chiyaan Vikram's career. S. S. Lalit Kumar has produced the movie under his banner Seven Screen Studios.
