Chennai, February 3 - Thalapathy Vijay's second collaboration with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Thalapathy 67" is getting hot in the trade even though there is no release date set yet. T67's non-theatrical rights have already been sold and prices are believed to be the highest ever in Tamil cinema.
Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Thalapathy 67" is the most-hyped Tamil movie ever and there is genuine excitement among moviegoers for this film. Netflix, one of the leading OTT platforms, has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie, and if reports are to be believed, the streamer has paid a whopping price of 150 crores for the same.
Thalapathy Vijay's latest blockbuster "Varisu" was sold in approx. 60 crores to Amazon Prime Video, and now, Netflix has paid 2.5X for the superstar's upcoming movie. Sun TV has bought the satellite rights of T67 for approx. 80 crores. The channel also has TV rights to "Varisu" which it bought in approx. 50 crores.
Sony Music has been announced as the Music Partner of T67 and the price for the same is said to be approx. 16 crores. The non-theatrical rights of the movie are close to 250 crores. The theatrical biz is expected to be skyrocketed and it could be around 150-200 crores.
T67 is said to be a part of director Lokesh's cinematic universe, which also included "Kaithi" and "Vikram". The makers will launch the title promo of the movie today (Feb. 3). It also stars Trisha Krishnan as the female lead along with Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Priya Anand, and Gautham Menen, among others in key roles.
