Shah Rukh Khan's Spy Actioner 'Pathaan' To Become The First Indian Film To Release In ICE Theater Format

Mumbai, December 25 - Yash Raj Films is gearing up to kickstart 2023 by releasing one of its biggest films, Pathaan starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the title role. The movie is a part of YRF's ambitious spy universe and it also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in prominent roles along with the cameo of Salman Khan as Tiger.

"Pathaan" is scheduled to release on January 25, and to make the theater experience memorable for audiences, YRF will also release the movie in ICE theater format. PVR Cinemas, India's largest film exhibitor in partnership with French exhibitor CGR Cinemas, recently opened India's first premium ICE Theatres auditorium in two of its leading cinemas in Delhi NCR. Pathaan will be the first Indian film to release in this format.

The ICE theater format includes side panels which along with the main screen, create a peripheral vision, giving a sense of enhanced immersion with a background contrast of colours and motion. Hollywood films like Doctor Stange 2, The Batman, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Top Gun: Maverick and Morbius have been released in ICE THEATERS in this high-end format.

The PVR ICE theater is currently screening James Cameron's sci-fi epic "Avatar: The Way of Water". Rohan Malhotra said that YRF will continue to be the first adopter of premium formats in India like it has done in the past like Dhoom 3 (2013) – 1st Indian film in IMAX, Thugs of Hindostan (2018) – 1st Indian film in 4DX and MX4D, War (2019) – 1st Indian film in D-Box.
