Pensacola, May 20, 2023 - Roman Reigns once again demonstrated his immense drawing power for WWE this week, as evidenced by an accidental advertisement for his appearance at a house show. Initially, it was announced that the incomparable WWE Universal Champion would grace the stage in Fayetteville, NC, marking his long-awaited return to the city after a hiatus of over four years. WWE even invested in radio advertising to build anticipation around Reigns' presence, underscoring his significance to the event.

Regrettably, on Wednesday, WWE issued a statement indicating that Reigns would not be making an appearance, offering refunds to ticket holders until 7:30 p.m. on the day of the show. WWE attributed the mix-up to the promotional team receiving outdated information regarding Reigns' schedule before it was revised.

Following Reigns' signing of a lucrative new deal with WWE last year, his reduced workload became apparent, primarily focusing on television and PLE events while sparingly participating in house shows. As his transition to Hollywood looms on the horizon, Reigns is expected to work even fewer dates moving forward.

According to Dave Meltzer's latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, prior to Reigns' inadvertent advertisement, WWE had sold an impressive 3,816 tickets for the event. Astonishingly, upon the announcement of Reigns' absence, ticket sales surged to 4,521 within a matter of days, reflecting the remarkable impact Reigns has on generating interest and attendance even for a house show.

Looking ahead, Reigns is prominently featured in upcoming marquee events such as Night of Champions on May 27, where he will team up with Solo Sikoa to face off against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the highly coveted Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles. Additionally, Reigns is slated for appearances at SmackDown on June 30, Money in the Bank on July 1, and the grand spectacle of SummerSlam in August.
