Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' Breaks Viewership Record For An Indian Movie On Netflix

Mumbai, February 7 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor has broken a viewership record on Netflix. The action drama film scored the highest viewership for an Indian movie (direct or indirect) on the streamer in the first 10 days.

Animal, which premiered on Netflix on January 26, has so far scored 39.3 million viewing hours from 11.7 million views in the first 10 days which is the highest ever for an Indian title. Previously, Yami Gautam-starrer Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga (direct release) was the most-watched Indian title on Netflix in the first 10 days with 29 million hours.



Among the post-theatrical Netflix releases, SS Rajamouli's mega-hit RRR was previously the number-one watched movie at the same time with 25.5 million viewing hours, a number Animal has beaten by a long margin. It scored 20.8 million viewing hours in the opening weekend, followed by 18.5 million in the second week (January 29 - February 4).

Animal is trending in the top 10 list in 17 countries, including number-one in India, Sri Lanka, UAE, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Mauritius. Other countries where the movie is trending are Australia, New Zealand, and Trinidad and Tobago, among others.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar and Murad Khetani under T-Series, Bhadrakali Pictures and Cine1 Studios, the movie stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri in key roles. It is about Ranvijay Singh, a violent man, who learns about an assassination attempt on his estranged father and sets out on a path of revenge and destruction.
