On the March 9, 2023 edition of ROH, Wheeler Yuta defeated Timothy Thatcher to retain ROH Pure Championship. After the match, Wheeler Yuta got on the mic and talked trash about NJPW's LA Dojo for thinking they had achieved something, but Yuta was confronted by NJPW's Clark Connors, who challenged Yuta to a match. Yuta slammed left through the ramp before accepting Connors's challenge.
